Community Care
New nursing home, Edolo (BS)
DVA has won the design competition for the new facility. Sensory gardens, botanical terraces, social parks: a new generation of architecture, the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration, designed with attention to the typical needs of the elderly, caregivers, and care professionals. Intergenerational relationships, community, and the wellbeing of people in harmony with the environment were, in fact, some of the main design focuses.
A real estate initiative that extends over an area of about 7.000 square metres, currently vacant, where the new architecture is divided into three functional blocks, with 75% of the surface designated as a green area.
The building has been designed to minimise the environmental impact with design solutions that include eco-friendly materials, systems for efficient energy and water management, and advanced technologies to ensure maximum comfort.
The project meets the latest standards in sustainability, including DNSH (Do No Significant Harm) and MEC (Minimum Environmental Criteria), with a focus on reducing energy consumption and improving the quality of life for residents. The adoption of advanced construction techniques and low-emission materials has also allowed for a reduction in CO2 emissions by about 35% compared to traditional standards.

“We don’t believe in obsessive architectural gestures, but in a Human Data Driven approach: data is not just numbers, but insights to be interpreted with sensitivity. Context is essential, atmosphere is a tangible value: we design places that are felt, not just seen, where architecture and well-being are deeply intertwined. We look to the future with a sense of responsibility: toward people, the environment, and economic balance, because designing means finding harmony, not imposing forms.“
