Branding and Customer Experience in the Automotive Sector

Tomasi Auto, Milano

The requirements formulated by Tomasi Auto were complex: to develop a consistent and reproducible system of brand guidelines that would ensure a uniform visual identity for all the Group’s points of sale, while at the same time transforming a former industrial building into a modern showroom that best represents the brand’s values.

DVA approached the project by carrying out a thorough analysis of the company’s brand identity and internal organisation, with the aim of creating a coherent and recognisable image that would help customers to immediately identify the brand and create a sense of familiarity and trust.

In a multi-faceted space like a car dealership — where the main showroom area, reception, pre-delivery zone, sales offices and internal areas such as changing rooms and break areas need to co—exist - it was important to understand the operational dynamics in order to create a seamless and engaging customer experience at every touchpoint.

This analysis phase was crucial in optimising customer flow and staff efficiency to ensure that each environment was not only aesthetically pleasing, but more importantly functional to the brand’s commercial objectives.

Interior design decisions were guided by the brand’s identity and colour palette to convey a professional and consistent image. Every detail was carefully considered — from the materials used for the finishes to the furniture, including the design of customised modules that can be easily replicated in different showrooms.

Special attention was paid to the lighting designed by DVMEP to emphasise the vehicles on display and create an appropriate atmosphere in both the exhibition and service areas. Green elements were also strategically integrated into the interior design, while a signage system aligned with the visual identity was developed to guide both customers and staff through the space.

Transforming an industrial building into a welcoming exhibition space required an integrated approach, resulting in a true aesthetic and functional metamorphosis. An automotive showroom demands flooring capable of supporting the concentrated weight of multiple vehicles, which calls for a thorough structural analysis to assess the load-bearing capacity of the existing building and carry out the necessary adjustments.
The transformation required not only technical expertise but also a comprehensive vision capable of reinterpreting pre-existing spaces. The layout delivered to Tomasi Auto ensures scalability, replicability, cost optimization for fittings, and fast implementation for future openings.
