Architecture and digitalisation for the city of the future

Innovation and digitalisation in the construction sector, from design through to the construction site, were the central themes of the event organised by DVA – DVision Architecture at the beginning of December, under the patronage of the Municipality, the Chamber of Commerce and Ance Brescia.

A dialogue with representatives of the institutions, professionals, and companies on the challenges posed by the digital transition, and reflecting on the possible contaminations between the emerging professions and the opportunities to be grasped for building the cities of the future The focus was on the Brescia district and its strengths, moving towards a systemic vision rooted in the local territory.

«The purpose of innovation, which affects the whole construction industry”, explained Pietro Bianchi, technical director of DVA, “and of digitalisation, which for us means sharing information and a constant exchange of views, is to put forward solutions and proposals for improving the quality of the built environment and our cities.»

Numerous guests participated in the discussion. Those in attendance for the institutional greetings were Michela Tiboni, Councillor for Urban Planning of the Municipality of Brescia, Massimo Ziletti, Secretary General of the Brescia Chamber of Commerce, and Marco Caffi, Director of GBC Italia. Via video link, Giampiero Venturini, Itinerant Office Director, and Marzia Bolpagni, Strategic BIM Advisor at Mace (London), described their experiences as young Brescians working abroad.

The roundtable included Massimo Deldossi, President of Ance Brescia and Deldossi Costruzioni; Giovanni Spatti, Wood Beton and Coordinator of AIB (Associazione Industriale Bresciana); Sara Ferrari, Sara Ferrari Design; and Marco Libretti, Innex Hub; and Armando Casella, DVA.

«With today’s event – added Armando Casella, sole director of DVA – we propose to create a territorial body to facilitate the digital transition of our sector, promote client awareness about the advantages of digitalisation, and develop a common language that will enable the entire construction supply chain to adopt standards and codes that will produce added value for all the actors involved.»

The event was also an opportunity for a preview presentation of the 2019 edition of the Report on the Construction, Architecture and Engineering industry edited by Aldo Norsa and the research company Guamari, with a specific focus on the province of Brescia.
