New project presented for the Casa dell’Accoglienza on Via Corridoni in Brescia

More places and spaces for social interaction in the project of the new Casa dell’Accoglienza in Brescia.
A system of mini-flats with shared spaces and services, as part of an urban regeneration initiative centred around the concept of co-housing.
An investment of 1.6 million euros to create a facility that will accommodate up to 32 users — 10 more than the current facility — by rationalising the internal spaces and enhancing the communal areas to foster social interaction, while providing greater comfort and flexibility. The project will also include the creation of large covered outdoor spaces and the revitalisation of the adjacent garden. A building designed to promote, on one hand, cultural integration among people of different ethnicities and, on the other, the privacy necessary for their social and religious practices.
A demolition and reconstruction project aimed at integrating harmoniously into the urban fabric, increasing the number of beds without exceeding the footprint of the existing building. Great attention was also paid to the environment, utilising renewable energy sources, while focusing on keeping project costs low and minimising future operational costs.
“Casa dell’Accoglienza is an example of urban regeneration, resulting from a co-design process between DVA and Brescia’s social services. The design challenge involved creating welcoming living spaces, using sustainable materials and minimising both management and construction costs.”
