DVArea wins the BIM & Digital Award 2025: Orbito named BIM initiative of the year

DVArea · 3 December 2025

The award was presented to Orbito, a content- and BIM-context-aware CDE (Common Data Environment) developed in-house and designed to streamline sharing, approval, and document retrieval activities throughout design and construction phases.

We are proud to announce that DVArea has won the prestigious BIM & Digital Award 2025 in Category F – BIM Initiative of the Year. The award was presented to Orbito, a content- and BIM-context-aware CDE (Common Data Environment) developed in-house to streamline sharing, approval, and document retrieval throughout the design and construction phases.

At the core of Orbito’s innovation is its “document model,” an informational layer parallel to the geometric model that moves beyond traditional folder-based logic.

Orbito integrates data, documents, and 3D models within a single intelligent environment capable of recognising informational context. In addition to classic folder navigation, users can perform spatial-key searches and receive suggestions for the most relevant documents.

In this way, Orbito goes far beyond a simple BIM viewer, positioning itself as a contextual recommendation system: during model exploration, proprietary algorithms combine shape, location, and metadata to compute probabilistic relevance, bringing forward the most pertinent deliverables, such as drawings, schedules, reports, photos, and RFIs.

Developed with the needs of our clients and site management in mind across all project phases, Orbito ensures comprehensive oversight throughout the entire asset lifecycle, centralising documents, revisions, and approval workflows. This enables the system to narrow down a focused set of documents and suggest “the right document at the right time,” reducing cognitive load and information retrieval time. During tendering, detailed design, and especially on site, this minimises tool-switching, versioning errors, and bottlenecks.

«For DVArea innovation is not simply about adopting the latest technologies. It is a mindset and a continuous process aimed at radically improving the efficiency, quality, and sustainability of our projects. It is the ability to see opportunities to make a difference even in challenging situations.»
