Restpod™: the future of well-being in the office at Fuorisalone 2025

ODUElab · 27 March 2025

ODUElab, a company of the DVArea group, Estel, and the APsyM Laboratory of the University of Verona, are collaborating to present the new multisensory module designed to promote psychophysical well-being, reduce stress, improve concentration, and support energy recovery.

On the occasion of Design Week, Estel Group presents Restpod™, the multisensory module designed to enhance psycho-physical well-being in the workplace. The project, conceived by ODUElab of the DVArea group, in collaboration with the APsyM Laboratory at the University of Verona, will be officially presented on 8 April at the Estel showroom at Corso Matteotti 3, Milan.

Rethinking well-being in the workplace: biophilia, technostress, and regenerative spaces

We spend approximately 90,000 hours at work during our lives—more time than we devote to any other activity, except sleeping. Over 30 years ago, Stephen and Rachel Kaplan introduced the concept of “restorativeness”, highlighting the psychological and health benefits derived from contact with nature. The significance of this relationship extends beyond mere aesthetics and encompasses numerous benefits in terms of recovery from mental fatigue.

Restpod™ is designed for use in workplace, commercial and residential environments: a 15-minute session inside delivers measurable physiological, cognitive and emotional benefits. This inclusive and sustainable approach fosters interaction and harmony between mind, body and emotions, and is grounded in scientific evidence.

The Restpod™ project: scientific research and innovation for workplace well-being

Restpod™ is a multisensory module designed to promote psycho-physical well-being through an evidence-based approach grounded in the principles of biophilia. Aligned with the Fuorisalone theme “Connected Worlds,” it features a design that synthesises environmental and scientific, natural and artificial elements. It provides a regenerative space that helps to reduce stress, improve concentration, and support energy recovery. Its effectiveness is supported by comprehensive scientific research conducted by the APsyM Laboratory at the University of Verona.

Research figures:

  • 100 participants in the research
  • 2,700 self-report questionnaires collected and over 11 million measurements taken via wearable devices
  •  +63% relaxation
  •  -35% anxiety

Creators, designers, and professionals in discussion

On 8 April, during the official presentation, there will also be a round table moderated by Paola Cecco, featuring a discussion between Architect Armando Casella, CEO of DVArea; Engineer Marta Olivieri, CEO of ODUElab; and Camilla Marossi, Environmental Psychologist and PhD candidate at the University of Verona. Together with Architect Maristella Casillo, Head of Design & Standards Office at Intesa Sanpaolo; Engineer Marco Poncetta, Head of Construction Management at the Unipol Group; and Architect Mario Cucinella, founder of MCA (Mario Cucinella Architects), the speakers will discuss well-being in the workplace and the role that innovative solutions like Restpod™ can play in ESG policies and corporate welfare.
