New Infrastructure for Sporting Excellence
Artistic Gymnastics Arena and Indoor Athletics Arena, Brescia
Two projects promoted by the Municipality of Brescia and Brescia Infrastrutture, aimed at transforming the San Polino district into the city's new Sports Hub: a 7,400 m² indoor athletics facility and a 4,350 m² gym for women’s artistic gymnastics, partially funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
The Artistic Gymnastics Arena will host local athletes, training camps for the national team and international teams, while the Indoor Athletics Arena will serve as the venue for athletics events and other sports disciplines. It will be built next to the current “Gabre Gabric” Outdoor Athletics Centre and the “Azeglio Vicini” Sports Centre.
Based on the feasibility study conducted by Brescia Infrastrutture, DVA and DVMEP – together with Architect Giuseppe De Martino and Geolambda Engineering – were responsible for the definitive design and the working drawings , following the award of the tenders, in collaboration with the construction companies.
In terms of sustainability, both buildings will be classified as nZEB (nearly Zero Energy Buildings), powered by renewable sources through photovoltaic systems, district heating, and high-performance heat pumps to maximise energy efficiency and minimise pollutant emissions.
